My summers as a child were spent outdoors. I would get up in the morning have a quick breakfast, then it was out the door. Playing with the neighborhood kids kept me busy. From riding our bikes to playing kickball in the street we always had a lot of fun. When I got a little older my mornings were spent at the township recreation program. We played games and kept our hands busy making arts and crafts. After lunch at home, my sisters and I would enjoy our backyard pool. It was only a three foot above ground pool, but we loved it. Many friends joined us during these afternoons. As a family we didn’t go on elaborate vacations. Mostly day trips to area attractions like the Palisades Amusement Park and Turtle Back Zoo. I have many fond memories of my childhood summers, how about you? Until next month.
