This year both Easter and Passover are celebrated during the first week of April. Getting together with family for the spring holidays is always special. Growing up my mother would take us girls shopping for Easter dresses. Along with the dresses we bought Easter bonnets, white patent leather shoes and spring coats. I always looked forward to getting all dressed up for Easter Sunday. The night before the holiday we would sit around the kitchen table to dye eggs. Every year I would choose to dye my egg the same color as my Easter dress. Of course on that special Sunday morning there would be Easter baskets filled with chocolate, jelly beans and peeps. My parents also had a tradition of hiding small toys around the living room. Sidewalk chalk, frisbees, hula hoops and bottles filled with bubbles would be some of the items to search for. The afternoon would bring a big meal shared with extended family. Now as a grandmother I enjoy celebrating Easter with my granddaughter Eloise. We always plan an Easter egg hunt in our backyard. The eggs are filled with candy and money! Whichever holiday you celebrate may it be filled with laughter, fun and family. Until next month.
